THIS IS EPIC JAZZ./ROCK/FUSION PROJECT which began in 1990.
Many musician took part of this legendary super group invented by the legendary Drummer (multiinstrumentalist) Garabet Tavitjan.
This band have released 4 albums + other special releases (aditional singles). Band has toured for more than 15 years .
 

 

 

GARO & PARAMECIUM 

Garo & Paramecium was realy like a (symbolic) school for musicians at that time , coummunity where all the greatest players from Macedonia took place in this band and on concerts. It was first super fusion band with internationl agenda . Work of this band can be described like a phenomenon during hard era era for the music globaly and especialy on the balkan. Diran Tavitjan took place as a composer in 1996 and the band have entered totaly diferent level of virtuosity along with complex rhythms and harmonies. Story of this project of Garabet Tavitjan is going on so the doors are open for new projects.

DISCOGRAPHY

The story began with Garabet Tavitjan inviting musicians to join his adventure and concert performances during 90's. Garabet is composer of legendary songs of Garo & Paramecium Group. First bass player of this band was Ljupco Stoisavljevic (known by playing in the band Bastion). Ljupco have recorded this first album of Paramecium together with legendary jazz sax player Goce Micanov who was colaborator of Garabet since touring with Leb I Sol and recording the legendary "Kao Kakao" album.Guitarist of this band was Igor Dimovski known as the young Steve Vai (from Macedonia) in that time.Keyboardist was Jovanco Arsovski.Another keyboardist was Valentino Skenderovski (famous Macedonian producer and composer) .Producer of this first record/album was (famous hit maker,guitarist and producer) Tose Pop Simonov cause the album was recorded in live concert.

After year 1994 the Garo & Paramecium is reunited with new members inlcuding urban legend Zoran Pavlovski - Zozo on a guitar (son of a lyrics writer of a famous traditional songs), Acek Pop Hristov on bass, Trajko Simonovski - Taci on bass, Djole Maksimovski on bass, Zoran Kraguevski on saxophone, Garo Tavitjan Junior on drums and virtuoso of piano and keyboards Mr.Diran Tavitjan. This new generation of musicians have made a history in a Jazz/Fusion/Rock music scene on the balkan.Diran Tavitjan is the composer and arranger on the more than 10 legendary compositions of this EPIC fusion journey. This new genreation along with Garo Tavitjan Junior on drums who contribute to the new style and improvisations in the upcoming projects in that time and Diran Tavitjan who became a harmonic,melodic and improvisation wizard on the keyboards made this band very authentic in the way of expressions during the concerts.

Garo & Paramecium also was presented with solo concerts just on percusive instruments and drums. That's the first project on the balkan with so many drums and inovative approach. Garabet Tavitjan is well known by his virtuosity and ambasador of Macedonian rhythms in the world. 
Solo performance was recognized in the world especialy on the festival "Golden Rose" in Montreux. One of the solo concerts was recorded and released on both audio and video release issued by Gemini (Ivo Jankovski) records. Project was called "Zvesdi, Zidini i Ritmi". Amazing thing is that on that solo concerts he was playing piano not just with the fingers but with drumstick on the strings of the grand piano with special effect which became a interesting legendary concept in this solo performances. He also use different things which are not instruments for playing but he is playing on things such as sculptures (from famous artists) and other unknown subjects that you can hit with  the drumstick.

Garo & Paramecium was very popular and best selling band in the 90's especialy because this group have produced only quality music also progressive and authentic. Paramecium was first band (after legendary Leb i Sol where Garabet was member and composer) from Macedonia with performing traditional songs in new arrangements. Paramecium groups was collaborating with many famous musicians.It's very hard to describe the music of this super fusion/rock/jazz/ethno project.

thousands people there , listening to instrumental Jazz Rock and fusion music

Garo & Paramecium in 2003 during reherseal in studio of Garo & Tavitjan Brothers which was placed in the downtown/centar of the city in one movie theatre. Here is the younger  but very talented and progressive generation of musicians who were playing in this band during that short time.
